Ontario to move to Step 2 of Reopening Plan on June 30: What this means for condos
With improvements in key public health measures and province-wide vaccination rates surpassing targets, the province of Ontario is set to move to Stage 2 of its “Roadmap to Reopen” plan at 12:01 am on June 30, 2021.
What does this mean for condominiums?
Stage 2 focuses on the reopening of more outdoor activities and limited indoor service with a small number of people where face coverings are worn. Some of the key changes relevant to condominiums are:
Larger gatherings of up to 25 people, will be permitted (subject to distancing)
Outdoor meeting and event facilities will be permitted (limited to 25% capacity and distancing)
Indoor gatherings of 5 people with distancing in place and face coverings worn
There are some relevant restrictions that are not changing including:
Individuals are still required to wear masks in common spaces
Certain employees are still required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Screening and self-screening requirements are still in place
Outdoor pools and wading pools can remain open
Indoor pools will need to stay closed
Outdoor recreation amenities are permitted to stay open (with certain restrictions in place, such as distancing)
Indoor recreation amenities are to stay closed except for training by high-performance athletes and certain other special exemptions
